The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is an all-new, fully-electric compact crossover SUV that will attract a new audience in Yellowknife to zero-emissions driving. The way it looks and drives will attract plenty of those already converted to the joys of electric vehicles. But it’s the affordable starting MSRP that makes this one of the most genuinely affordable and best value for money EVs around that will get people off the fence and into the driving seat.
It’s common for new EVs, especially at the more affordable end of the pricing spectrum, to only be available in one or two high-spec trim levels. Chevy has chosen to do things differently instead. As well as a very competitively priced entry model, there are five trim levels in total to appeal to a wide range of shoppers and budgets.
Five versions of the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will be available for reservations shortly. The base model is the very affordable 1LT, and the range then goes to the 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and top-of-the-range 3RS. The range-topping 3RS boasts an outstanding standard specification, but every model represents excellent value for money, including the competitively priced 1LT.
Let’s face it. Electric vehicles are still a new concept for most people, so it will be quite a while before the conversation moves away from charging times and the driving range on a full charge when a new EV arrives on the market. However, it’s a conversation the Equinox EV is happy to have, as the numbers associated with this exciting new model are well above par. The standard 11.5-kW AC onboard charger can deliver 55 kilometers of range to the battery in an hour at Level 2. With the available 150 kW DC fast charge facility, an estimated 112 kilometers of additional range takes just 10 minutes to add.
Entry models send an estimated 210 horsepower and 242 lb.-ft. of torque to the front wheels from a single motor, and the estimated driving range on a single charge of the battery is 402 kilometers. That’s more than enough for most drivers’ daily needs, but if you go up a level or higher, a larger battery is standard, increasing the range to 482 kilometers. Dual-motor all-wheel-drive models are also available, and these boast an estimated 290 horsepower and 346 lb.-ft. output and a range of 450 kilometers.
Impressive as the Equinox EV’s electric powertrains and their associated numbers are, no prospective owner will overlook the features and equipment we expect and want from any new vehicle these days. The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV comes generously equipped with standard features and equipment, and the top trim levels are genuinely spectacular. The 1LT comes with standard 19-inch alloy wheels, 11-inch screens for driver information and infotainment, front and rear automatic emergency braking, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, automatic high beams, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats.
The headline attraction for the 2LT is a bigger standard battery and 300-mile estimated driving range, but you also get an LED light bar at the front, and there are upgrade options that include AWD and some more advanced safety features. The 3LT and 3RS models get standard AWD, heated and ventilated front and heated rear seats, reverse automatic braking, a heated steering wheel, 21-inch alloys, adaptive cruise control, a hands-free tailgate, and a massive 17.7-inch diagonal touch-screen. The 3LT and 3RS are available with a head-up display, and a degree of autonomous driving on divided and compatible highways is possible with optional Super Cruise.
The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is an incredibly exciting new model that will be in huge demand.
